Cover your camera with your finger in a bright area(or with a backlight behind your finger) so that the PPG video feed shows as below. You should see the red pulse in sync with your heart beat. 

PPG graph autoscales so that the max peak is 1, therefore,  some stretching of the overall PPG is expected. The estimate heart rate will show on the graph.
